2017 saw one of the craziest Atlantic hurricane seasons of all time. For Grammy-Nominated Singer-Songwriter Drastic, who experienced a direct hit of hurricane Irma in Tortola on September 6 and Poet/Songwriter Shérose who experienced a direct hit of hurricane Maria one week later, the experiences felt like a movie.
With both countries devastated by widespread damages, they sought comfort and refuge in neighboring Antigua, which basically went mostly untouched by the storms.
“It wasn’t until my wife and I got to Antigua (my hometown) after Irma that we were able to see that Barbuda was destroyed too,” said Drastic, shaking his head in disbelief.
Shortly after Drastic met Shérose and they were able to exchange stories. The two teamed up and recorded a song dedicated to all the islands affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria entitled “We Will Rise”. The song was penned by Shérose with Bert Kerchner and produced by Bert Kerchner.
